League News:
In 2000, Measure "P" (for Parks) was a $200 Million Bond passed by the voters of San Jose to upgrade existing parks and build new parks, including a softball complex. The Singleton Sports Complex site is a former 88 acre landfill on Capitol Expressway, located between Highway 101 and Monterey Highway (near Andrew Hill High School). The Parks and Recreation Department of the City of San Jose has identified the need for a 6 to 8 field softball complex at this site.
For over 2 years, we have attended large neighborhood meetings, smaller focus groups, and 2 meetings with Councilman Gregory at City Hall, to determine the programming of the Singleton Sports Complex. This Conceptual Master Plan indicates the culmination of this team effort. However, the plan may be modified in the coming months due to budgetary constraints and/or environmental impact issues. The anticipated completion date is Fall 2007.
We will keep you updated as the project progresses and there is significant information to share...God Bless
